Digital Portfolio

These images demonstrate a range of my AS and A2 work. I have included images of my final pieces, my development including artist copies and I have demonstrated a range of observational drawings where I have experimented with colour and methods of creating observational drawings, such as using felt to draw with. My photographs have been taken from my Textiles Expressive Art coursework and my Textiles Design Technology coursework. I really enjoy these subjects as they allow me to be creative through drawings and through working with fabrics, which is why I have a passion for textiles. I think your Textile in Practice course is perfectly suited for me, as it would allow me to explore further into printing, knitting, weaving and embroidery to help me develop my skills. My work in my online portfolio shows my ability to draw, use colour and my ability to develop. I know this course will allow me to develop my abilities so I can express my ideas clearly and become a better practitioner. I have seen the work produced on your courses and I find it really inspiring, and I would love to develop the same skills to create work of such a high standard. The facilities provided are also excellent which will help create unique and interesting work.  I am motivated and enthusiastic, so I am able to meet coursework deadlines and use my time effectively and efficiently. I hope through this course I will gain new experiences that will challenge me, and therefore benefit me and my skills.

Portfolio

This is an artist copy I created, I chose to create a copy of this piece because I really like the texture created in the piece and I think it looks really interesing.
My artist copy then influenced this piece where I experimented with stitching and printing, to create a unique and textural piece.

Felt Drawing

This is an observational piece I created with felt. I like this piece as it is quite eye catching because of the use of just black and white felt. I also like the texture that was created by using the felt.

These are mono prints I created of marguerite flowers, these observational drawings were part of my decay project, so I chose flowers which were partially decay to observe. I think the decaying flowers are really effective with this method of drawing.
Here I drew the flower which free machine embroidery which I think was really effective as has added texture to the piece.

Portfolio As textiles project

This project was based on Liberty London, this is my mood board which I used to help inspire me throughout the project.

Here is an example of my development for my Liberty London project, in this page I developed the back of the bodice and experimented with different decorative techniques.
Here is my final product for my Liberty London project. I used a range of techniques and fabrics on the product, and I was very pleased with my end product.

This is a piece I created based on decay, it was inspired by the decay of flowers. I created this piece using screen printing, I then assembled the screen prints and embellished the flowers with machine embroidery and yarns.

Digital Portfolio continued

These are observational drawings of different natural forms, I used the bright colours to help inspire me for different pieces.I also experimented with different drawing materials.

Digital Portfolio

This is a wire bird I created using wire, twigs, felt and yarns. I tried to create a lot of texture with this piece and make it really interesting to look at.

This is a final piece based on decay, I looked at an apple in its fresh and decayed state. So one of my apples is shiny and bright, which represents the freshness, then the other apple is dull and textured, which represents the decay.
